The effects of job rotation on performance
Job rotation is considered as an
effective mechanism for effective implementation of HR strategy. It is about
settling staff at the right place where they can give the maximum results. This
can be proved as the best strategy to find the immediate replacement of a skilled
employee within the company itself. Searching the most appropriate employee and
shifting them to take on the responsibilities of a higher level is a hard job. Rotation
of job helps employer decide who can be replaced by whom and create a suitable
and beneficial. A well-planned job rotation process plays a vital role in establishing
the position of a firm.

The research performed by
Eriksson, T and Ortega, J (2006) shown that application of job rotation helps
both employee and the employer. Employee learnt how to work by doing themselves
with the working in more than one department or section, it makes easier to get
the knowledge and skills related to many areas of the company (Bennett, 2003 as
cited Kaymaz, K. 2010). Job rotation makes individuals in different functional
areas more associated. This also offers people with a better idea on the other
section of the business. Therefore, the more job rotation, the greater harmony
is created between workers, which effects the clarification of information and
provides a drive for organizational learning. (Weerd-NederHof et al, 2002 as cited
Kaymaz, K. 2010).

DeleteAs a human being No one could perform same duty for years on same way. That is why the rotation is compulsory. The essence of effect of job rotation is to provide a good platform for equity and fairness. They provide a challenging environment and increase employee and employee performance. Therefore the success of an organization is based on good effect of job rotation in other to increase organization, productivity.

ReplyDeleteJob rotation is one of the key elements nowadays, having popped up with the rise in high employee turnover. It has created a daunting task for HRM to replace the talent within a shorter time frame to achieve better results. Frequent talent replacement will enhance productivity and change employee job roles frequently, which will help the HRM to have a wider skills and experience set of employees as a contingency plan in case of a crisis situation.
Job rotation will reduce employees of boredom produced by working in the same job and at the same workstation for an extended length of time.However, it should be noted that frequent job rotation may have an impact on employee performance because they may not fully utilize their acquired expertise and their devotion to the task may fade.As a result, there are some disadvantages.

ReplyDeleteJob rotation, or moving employees between jobs within a company, is frequently used to develop, assess, and motivate employees. In my opinion, sometimes it can affect the employee's performance. No one wants to leave their comfort zone and contribute to another department. Job rotation is just another imposed formality. They simply have to do as their Boss has asked. In a new team, people often take time to open up and express themselves. They enjoy working with people they know well, but find it difficult to adjust to new colleagues, causing all sorts of issues.

Well explained article on Job Rotation, as discussed Job Rotation within the department would be more effective but if the organization started to apply this mechanism even beyond the department, it will impact as it costs a lot for training and will take time to learn the new job for others and there are people who likes to do particular job will hate the rotation which may leads to high turnover as well.
